Jabari Canada is a Master of Architecture candidate at MIT, completing his thesis semester. His work bridges design, media, and public space, with recent research focused on sustainable material systems, acoustics in the built environment, and decentralized wood manufacturing. His creative work bridges design and media to address emerging public needs, with current research exploring how makers and manufacturers across the Northeast might advance resilient and sustainable US-based timber construction to meet housing needs.

Before graduate school, Jabari spent seven years working as a cinematographer in New York City, collaborating with companies including Nike, Google, and Revlon, as well as artists such as A$AP Rocky and Rihanna. He later joined Senator Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign as a video producer, where he created stories highlighting environmental justice in the built environment. Over the past few years, he has brought together his interests in film and architecture through short documentaries on Höweler + Yoon’s design studio and the High Line by Diller Scofidio + Renfro.

Across both his design and media practices, Jabari remains interested in how storytelling, materials, and well-designed moments can foster more connected and sustainable communities.
